A lonely maintenance worker looking for love has set off on a 55-mile pilgrimage to find a partner - on his hands and knees.
Mark McGowan, 37, from Peckham, south London, is following the medieval pilgrimage trail from London to Canterbury Cathedral in the hope of attracting a girlfriend and raising awareness of people left isolated during the festive period.
With a sign saying "could you love me" strapped to his back and 18 boxes of chocolates trailing behind him on string tied to his wrists and ankles, he began crawling his way through the capital on Monday and hopes to finish the journey in under 30 days.
